LFG-to-RNG Facility
Illinois

Neogenyx Fuels developed, owns, and operates the San Joaquin County LFGTE power facility at the Foothill Sanitary Landfill in Linden, California. The 4.3 MW facility captures naturally occurring landfill gas and converts it into renewable electricity – transforming what was previously flared into dependable, dispatchable power delivered to the City of Palo Alto.
In 2020, a 5.3 MW solar array was added, making Foothill the only facility in the portfolio combining LFGTE and solar PV on a single site. The combined project received the Environment + Energy Leader Top Project of the Year Award in 2021.
Two reciprocating gas engine generator sets capture methane-rich landfill gas and convert it into renewable electricity, generating 30.7 GWh annually – enough to power ~2,600 homes. Achieving commercial operation in April 2014, the LFGTE facility reduces CO₂ emissions by ~21,000 metric tons per year.
Beyond clean energy production, the San Joaquin County LFGTE facility delivers significant environmental and community benefits, including:
