Brickyard
LFG-to-RNG Facility
Illinois

Neogenyx Fuels developed, owns, and operates the Brickyard Landfill RNG facility in Danville, Illinois. The facility captures biogas generated through decomposing waste and upgrades it to pipeline‑quality RNG for delivery into the local natural gas network – making low‑carbon energy available to cities, counties, and businesses throughout the Danville region.
The Brickyard RNG facility supports Republic Services’ long‑standing sustainability commitment to beneficially reuse 50% more biogas by 2030. As the twelfth renewable energy project in collaboration with Republic Services, it advances both environmental performance and dependable energy supply through proven infrastructure.
The facility also received ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) status which verifies that biogas/biomethane meets strict sustainability, traceability, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction criteria, primarily for EU markets. It enables RNG to qualify for renewable fuel mandates, commanding higher market value, with certifications available for various feedstocks.
The Brickyard RNG facility converts source biogas – landfill gas – into a reliable, low‑carbon fuel source that supports regional decarbonization efforts. The project includes advanced gas processing systems designed to remove moisture, harmful gases, and pollutants from raw biogas, producing pipeline‑quality RNG that meets utility pipeline specifications.
Once upgraded, the RNG is compressed and sent to the natural gas utility for monitoring and metering before injection into the pipeline. The facility can process 2,000 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) of raw landfill gas and feed directly into a pipeline, injecting 460,000 MMBtu of RNG into the commercial pipeline annually. The facility achieved commercial operation in September 2024.
Beyond clean energy production, the Brickyard RNG facility delivers meaningful environmental and community benefits, including:
