LFG-to-RNG Facility

Neogenyx Fuels developed, owns, and operates the Keller Canyon Renewable Energy Center in Pittsburg, California – the largest operational LFG-to-RNG plant in California and the first RNG plant in California powered by a co-located LFGTE plant on the same landfill.
The facility located at Keller Canyon Landfill provides the San Francisco East Bay Area with clean energy resources, converting landfill gas into pipeline-quality RNG for injection into PG&E’s gas pipeline system – the first landfill gas to RNG interconnection in PG&E territory.
As the thirteenth renewable energy project in collaboration with Republic Services, the Keller Canyon Renewable Energy Center represents the deepest milestone in a partnership spanning more than two decades. The project supports California’s goal of achieving 60% renewable energy by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2045, while advancing Republic Services’ commitment to beneficially reuse 50% more of their biogas by 2030.
The Keller Canyon facility is a first-of-its-kind energy center: a 3.8 MW LFGTE plant and ~1 million MMBtu RNG processing facility operating side by side on the same landfill. The co-located electric plant powers the RNG facility itself, creating a level of energy resiliency not seen in most renewable energy projects – instead of drawing from the grid, the RNG plant runs on its own clean electricity.
The facility is capable of processing 4,500 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) of raw landfill gas, delivering ~1 billion cubic feet of RNG annually into the PG&E pipeline system. The facility achieved commercial operation in September 2024 and created over 80 jobs during construction, expected to sustain over 25 operational jobs, contributing to the local economy in Contra Costa County and strengthening the California job market.
Beyond clean energy production, the Keller Canyon Renewable Energy Center delivers significant environmental and economic benefits, including:
