LFG-to-RNG Facility
Illinois

Neogenyx Fuels designed, built, owns, and operates the Woodland Meadows RNG facility at Waste Management’s Woodland Meadows Landfill in Canton, Michigan. The facility captures naturally occurring landfill gas and processes it into pipeline-quality RNG – transforming what was previously flared into a low-carbon transportation fuel.
The project required meeting unprecedented natural gas quality specifications – a High BTU engineering challenge that made it one of the largest and most technically complex LFG-to-RNG facilities of its kind in the U.S. The RNG is distributed for use in the vehicle fuel market – one of the few alternative fuels that improves air quality during both production and end-use.
The facility also received ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) status which verifies that biogas/biomethane meets strict sustainability, traceability, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction criteria, primarily for EU markets. It enables RNG to qualify for renewable fuel mandates, commanding higher market value, with certifications available for various feedstocks.
The facility is designed to process 6,600 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) of raw landfill gas, producing ~1.3 million MMBTu of renewable energy annually. Achieving commercial operation in January 2018, the facility operates continuously.
Blower stations draw the gas from the raw landfill gas to produce pipeline-quality gas for distribution in the local gas distribution system. Gas is then injected into the natural gas pipeline, where it is eventually utilized in the vehicle fuel market. Benefits include:
