LFG-to-RNG Facility
Illinois

Neogenyx Fuels developed, owns, and operates the McCarty Road RNG facility in Houston, Texas – one of the largest waste disposal sites in the state. The facility captures landfill gas and processes it into low-carbon transportation fuel, distributed to fleet customers nationwide.
The McCarty Road site has a long history of beneficial biogas reuse – dating back to 2007, when a four-mile pipeline was constructed to supply landfill gas to Anheuser-Busch’s Houston brewery, displacing fossil fuel in the brewery’s steam boilers. The current RNG facility builds on that legacy, transforming the site into a multi-phase renewable energy hub that now delivers fuel to the national transportation market.
The facility also received ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) status which verifies that biogas/biomethane meets strict sustainability, traceability, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction criteria, primarily for EU markets. It enables RNG to qualify for renewable fuel mandates, commanding higher market value, with certifications available for various feedstocks.
The Neogenyx Fuels team broke ground on the RNG facility in Q2 2020 and successfully navigated the construction challenges and equipment delays associated with a global pandemic and an active hurricane season to reach mechanical completion in early December 2020 — and commercial operations in May 2021. The facility is capable of processing 4,500 scfm of raw landfill gas, converting it into a readily available renewable fuel source that reduces the nation’s reliance on fossil fuels.
Unlike projects that inject RNG into a local utility pipeline, the McCarty Road facility feeds directly into the transportation fuel market through U.S. Gain, one of the nation’s leading distributors of sustainable energy solutions — satisfying decarbonization goals for fleet customers and delivering air quality improvements for communities across the United States.
Beyond clean energy production, the McCarty Road RNG facility delivers significant environmental and community benefits, including:
