LFG-to-RNG Facility
Illinois

Neogenyx Fuels developed, owns, and operates the Lee County Landfill RNG facility at the Lee County Landfill in Dixon, Illinois. The facility captures naturally occurring landfill gas and processes it into pipeline-quality RNG – transforming gas that was previously flared into a valuable renewable energy resource. By providing a local source of baseload energy supply, the project enhances grid resilience for Lee County and the surrounding region while reducing emissions through the displacement of fossil fuels.
The Lee County facility represents the 15th renewable energy project completed in collaboration with Republic Services. The project aligns with Illinois’ ambitious targets to achieve 40% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% clean energy by 2050, as well as Republic Services’ commitment to beneficially reuse over 50% of the biogas at all its locations by 2030.
The facility is designed to process 4,500 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) of raw landfill gas, generating ~1 million MMBTu of renewable energy annually. RNG was successfully injected into a natural gas transmission pipeline at the end of June 2025, converting what was once a wasted byproduct into a low-carbon transportation fuel that displaces fossil fuel usage across the region.
Beyond clean energy production, the Lee County RNG facility delivers significant environmental and community benefits, including:
