A Message from Mike, CEO of Neogenyx Fuels
Back in 2000, George Sakellaris sat at a dinner table in a local bar and grill sketching out, on cocktail napkins, his vision for a new company that could fill an unserved demand in the energy solutions market. With passion, determination, his team and his own capital, Ameresco was born. Growing from three to over 1,500 employees, Ameresco has delivered over $16B in energy solutions globally.
Now we celebrate the birth of a new enterprise from what was just an idea drawn on the back of napkins 26 years ago. Neogenyx Fuels has been in the making since February 2001, when we began to develop our first biogas plant. Over a quarter of a century since then, so many talented people have contributed to our steady, organic growth.
Today we are in the midst of an energy renaissance driven by society’s insatiable appetite for energy. And what continues to be self-evident is that we must strive to increase the security of supply. There is no single solution that will achieve this. Rather, we will get there through a portfolio of solutions. Biofuels is one of those solutions.
Biofuels are a readily available, baseload, domestic resource produced in most cases from society’s waste. It is a direct, “drop in” product that can be used today to generate electricity and thermal energy. Taking it one step further, advanced processing of biogas yields a fuel source that can be used in transportation (automotive, rail, marine, aviation) as well as a feedstock for the development of other molecular products and chemicals.
Advanced biofuels are poised to become the next major domestic export engine, catalyzing unprecedented investment in rural communities, creating tremendous job growth, and achieving the Administration’s goals for energy and maritime dominance. By establishing the U.S. as a global fueling hub, advanced biofuels can play a central role in supporting the Maritime Action Plan and enhancing national security efforts.
With over 25 years of proven experience in greenfield development of advanced energy assets, Neogenyx Fuels is exceptionally well positioned to be a driving force in this market. Now it’s time to get to work.
